LIFE AFTER PTSD

By Em

The Goal

I am a United States soldier in the process of separating from the military after 19 years of service and more than 10 deployments.  I was initially diagnosed with PTSD in April of 2014, after which I deployed two more times.  I also lost both of my parents in the last year, which led me to a very dark place in which no one should ever be left alone.

This blog is intended to show others the steps that I am taking to reclaim my life.  The first step was realizing that a PTSD diagnosis does not define the strength of my character.  The manner in which I choose to deal with that diagnosis, however, does.

If you are dealing with PTSD, maybe this blog will help you find your own path.  Stay strong, and try to leave the world a better place than you found it.

My Path

I've decided that my path is to leave the military, move off-grid, and create a retreat for female veterans.  I estimate that it will take six to 12 months for my separation from the military to be finalized.  I intend to use that time learning the skills I will need in order to guarantee the future I want.

Obviously, moving off-grid is not everyone's dream.  I hope readers will understand that this is my own personal process and not a template for what I think others should be doing.

I will be launching a Kickstarter campaign in the near future to help get my dream off the ground, and I will include that information when it is available.

In the meantime, check out my blog to see what I'm learning.
